Biography
Bryan Kneale studied at the Royal Academy from 1948 to 1952.
He won a Rome Scholarship from 1949 to 1951. He became a tutor
at the Royal College of Art Sculpture School from 1964 to 1980
and then a Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 1972. He became
Master of Sculpture at the Royal Academy from 1982 to 1985 and
Professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy from 1985 to 1990.
He returned to the Royal College of Art as Professor of Drawing
from 1990 to 1995.
In 1977
he organised the prestigious Battersea Park Silver Jubilee Sculpture
Exhibition and has had numerous solo exhibitions in the UK.
In 1978 he had a one-man show at the Serpentine Gallery. His
work has been included in several group exhibitions; the Whitechapel
Gallery, Tate Gallery, Hayward Gallery and the Royal Academy
are just some of the key venues.
The
Arts Council of Great Britain, the Contemporary Arts Society,
the Museum of Modern Art New York, the National History Museum
and the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge house his work in their
public collections amongst several other notable institutions.
